Frequently Asked Questions
Congratulations!
You’re engaged! Thank you for your interest in my wedding photography services. I know that much of your time, effort and money will go into the planning of your wedding, and similarly, I put a great deal of work before, during, and after the wedding day for every wedding I photograph. Photography is the single most important investment you’ll make for your wedding and I understand that choosing the right photographer is a big decision. I’ve put together a guide here to help you with answering some questions that may seem obvious as well as questions that you may not have known you even had! I look forward to meeting you and capturing incredible memories for you to treasure and share with your family and friends.

After the Wedding

“Photography is the best investment you can make when planning your wedding. After the wedding, your photos and your heirloom album will live on for generations to enjoy.”

Initial Questions
WHAT IS YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY STYLE?
I strive for timeless, elegant, and romantic imagery. I am meticulous and have an eye for detail but am always sure to keep the bigger picture in mind. Whether I’m shooting with film or digital, I think my superpower is composure — in both my art and my demeanour. I have an art background which gives me a better sense of composition, lighting, and colour.
WHAT’S YOUR BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE?
I have been photographing weddings full-time since 2012 and have captured more than 100+ weddings. I was always into arts growing up, and during secondary school, I joined a photography club where I learned about film photography and darkroom. After high school, I was given my first DSLR camera as a gift and that was when photography became my full-fledged hobby. I then went on to study Fine Art Photography at OCADU and proceeded to study at Seneca @ York for Photography and Business.
ARE YOU THE PHOTOGRAPHER WHO WILL SHOOT MY WEDDING?
Yes! I will be the primary photographer for the wedding day and I usually have a second shooter and/or assistant with me.
DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH ANYTHING ELSE OTHER THAN WEDDINGS?
Yes! Although I specialize in weddings, I also photograph other types of events such as bridal showers, engagement parties, rehearsal dinners, bat mitzvahs, etc. Portraiture is also one of my specialties – family, children, portraits, couple’s portraits, anniversaries, and branding portraits.
WHAT IF YOU GET SICK AND CAN’T MAKE IT?
Although this has never happened in the past years I’ve been shooting, I understand that illness and accidents happen at inopportune moments. I have a great network of trusted photographer friends that I can count on. Also, my second shooter is there to fill in for me in case anything happens.
DO YOU TRAVEL OUTSIDE OF TORONTO FOR WEDDINGS, EVENTS OR PORTRAITS?
Most definitely! I love travelling and shooting in new environments. I have been fortunate enough to be able to travel and photograph my couples in different cities and countries. I am available worldwide; travel fees are additional anywhere outside 90km of downtown Toronto. Please do not hesitate to inquire with me!
HOW WILL YOU AND/OR YOUR TEAM BE DRESSED?
I like to blend in with the guests and my team will also be dressed professionally, as I believe that my image represents my brand.
WHAT HAVE PREVIOUS COUPLES SAID ABOUT YOU?
I do my best to create a unique and genuine experience for each of my clients, you can read what others have said about me and my work here.
WHAT TYPE OF EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE AND DO YOU HAVE BACKUP?
I use professional-grade equipment – Sony A7III with high-quality lenses as well as a medium format film camera – Contax 645. I also have backup equipment.
DO YOU HAVE INSURANCE?
Yes, I have commercial general liability coverage.
WHO MAKES YOUR ALBUMS?
All the albums I offer are handcrafted luxury heirloom products. I use Dekora Album, based in Toronto, I have built a personal relationship with them to develop the Fine Art Album to offer my clients. I offer a variety of album styles – the 9″x12″ natural linen album with flush mount pages and debossed names being my favourite! Custom albums are available upon request. #HeirloomAlbums
CAN YOU RECOMMEND US OTHER VENDORS FOR OUR WEDDING?
Yes! I love working with other vendors especially ones I’ve worked with and ones I want to work with.
Booking & Payment
HOW FAR IN ADVANCE DO I NEED TO BOOK WITH YOU?
I normally book around 12-18 months in advance, especially for Saturday weddings. Please contact me for my availability.
WHAT ARE YOUR RATES AND PACKAGES?
Every wedding is unique and different. Please inquire about our current collections. I can also create a custom package to tailor to your needs.
HOW MANY HOURS WOULD I NEED FOR COVERAGE?
This one is depending on your preferences or what you need. The average is about 8 hours to get a good amount of coverage and capture the flow of the day in a photojournalistic style. I would suggest setting aside a minimum of 1 hour for getting ready, 30 minutes for first-look, 30-45 minutes for family portraits, 1.5-2 hours for bridal party portraits including bride & groom portraits, and during reception do your first dance and cake cutting right after your entrance to get the main events covered.
HOW DO I BOOK YOU?
A limited number of weddings is accepted each year so I can provide quality work and a personalized experience for each of my couples while also maintaining a work-life balance. A non-refundable retainer fee of 50% of the total package and a signed contract is needed to reserve me for your day. The remaining balance is due at least one month before the wedding date. Please note that booking is on a first-come, first-serve basis.
WHAT METHODS OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?
I accept cash, cheque, email transfer, and major credit cards.
AND THEN WHAT HAPPENS?
Once you’ve booked me for your wedding, I’m available to help you with your questions or wedding planning. Especially if you are wondering if anything that is part of your wedding will “photograph well” or if you need help with your wedding timeline.
After the Wedding
HOW AND WHEN WILL WE GET OUR IMAGES?
Your wedding images will be ready 8-12 weeks after the wedding. You will receive an online gallery and a download link for all high-resolution and web-resolution images. You will also be able to order prints directly from the gallery and choose your favourites. For engagement sessions, you will receive your images within 3-4 weeks.
HOW MANY IMAGES DO YOU DELIVER?
Every wedding is unique and different. I value quality over quantity and depending on the length of coverage, you’ll receive an average of 60-80 images per hour. Images not included are mostly duplicates, unflattering photos, blinkers, and camera setting tests.
WHAT ABOUT BLACK AND WHITE IMAGES?
I usually provide about 10% – 15% of black and white images in the gallery. More if I shoot black and white film indoors.
HOW MUCH EDITING IS APPLIED TO EACH IMAGE?
All of your delivered images are individually colour corrected and edited to match my photographic style. Additional retouching such as removing objects, advanced skin retouching, and altering appearance are subject to a custom editing fee.
DO YOU OFFER PRINTS?
You can easily order prints through your online gallery once you receive them. If you want to order a custom size print with a frame for your home, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
CAN WE PRINT OUR PHOTOS?
Yes, most definitely. A personal license is included and you are able to print your own images for personal use. I would highly recommend printing it at a professional lab to ensure the highest quality or ordering through the online gallery.
CAN I ORDER AN ALBUM IF IT WAS NOT PART OF MY PACKAGE?
Yes, you can. The pricing for the album is part of the à la carte in the pricing provided to you during your initial consultation. Please let me know within a year of your wedding date if you want to order an album and I can walk you through the process and design the album. Duplicate albums – great for parents – are 25% off.
